And just like that my baby girl is one. The last year has flown by and now suddenly I have a one year old! I really struggled with what to get her for her birthday as it’s so close to Christmas and she plays with lots of Harley’s old toys too, but thought I’d share a few 1st birthday gift ideas as I know lots of other people are in the same boat too.
One of my favourite toys of Harley and Ada’s is the DUKTIG Play Kitchen from Ikea. Not only does the colour scheme totally work with our home, it’s super sturdy, really easy to assemble and is so much fun for the little ones. Ikea also sell lots of accessories to go with the kitchen, including ridiculously cute saucepans.
Ada’s up and about now so I really wanted to get her a basket on wheels that she could push around and put all of her things in and whilst searching online I found Olli Ella. Basically everything on their site is beautiful and Pinterest-worthy and there’s 10% off your first order too when you sign-up with them. We opted for the Luggy in Natural. It’s beautiful and a big hit with Ada (and Harley).
The Little Tikes Cozy Coupe was one of my favourite toys growing up and was a big hit at my third birthday party with all the kids fighting to have a go on the VHS tape my dad recorded! It comes in lots of different designs (Harley has the dinosaur version) and will grow with them – at first you can have the floor in place to protect their little feet but as they get older you remove the floor and they can move themselves along. We also have a trailer for our one, which the kids love to sit in.
I really love the idea of having little keepsakes and things for the kids to have when they’re older. I’ve created email addresses for Harley and Ada that I’ve sporadically sent things to for them to read when their older. When having a look at gifts I discovered the idea of creating a book of birthday letters, which would hold a letter from every birthday until their 18th. Amazing! Obviously you can create this yourself with a notepad or you can get personalised ones on Etsy and Not on the High Street.
I’m a huge fan of My 1st Years and love that basically anything can be personalised. Their Hooded Fleece Dressing Gowns are so cute and really useful, as I’m back to work now I have to get Ada out of bed and straight in the car a couple of times in the week so a nice warm dressing gown always helps make the process less traumatic for her!
If you’re planning a 1st birthday party take a look at my Pinterest boards for inspiration. Enjoy – I could spend forever on there!
