Happy New Year! Whenever I say that I really want to shout ‘Happy No Year’ Joey Tribbiani style (I’m rewatching Friends on Netflix at the moment and now basically only communicate via Friends memes and quotes – see my Instastories). Anyway I LOVE New Year, it’s a fresh page literally – a new diary, a new calendar and a new inbox at work – I file away all of my previous year’s emails, it’s so therapeutic.
This year I’m aiming to be more organised. I’ve got my label maker ready and about 10 months of receipts and admin to sort (which roughly goes back to when I fell off last year’s organised resolution wagon) and don’t even get me started on my plans for birthday card organisation.
I’m also planning to be more Ada. My youngest sassiest child has perfected her foot stamp and finest ‘NO’ but she’s also mastered the art of not doing anything she doesn’t want to do. This is definitely a skill I want to take forward in 2020.
Whilst I love the New Year and the thought of a fresh start it does come with a lot of pressure. I really want to stop biting my nails, I really need to stop eating so many chocolate biscuits and I keep telling myself that I should take up some form of exercise. In reality during 2020 I’ll still be biting my nails, buying packs of chocolate biscuits whilst telling myself that I’ll only have the one despite knowing full well it’ll be at least seven, and the only squats I’ll be doing will be whilst clearing up the kids toys off the floor 781 times a day.
So New Year, New Me it won’t be but I am excited for the year ahead. Happy New Year y’all.
